Country overview

About Bahrain

Bahrain is a kingdom of islands in the Persian Gulf, connected to Saudi Arabia by a causeway. Manama is the capital and the commercial centre. About 1.6 million people live here. Arabic is the official language; English is widely used in business. The currency is the dinar (BHD).

Bahrain is an established Gulf centre for financial services, professional firms and regional headquarters. Free-zone and onshore vehicles are both used. The legal environment is familiar to companies that already operate in the Gulf. Manama is compact, and costs sit in the moderate-to-higher Gulf range rather than those of a simple remote registry.

Brikseka forms companies in Bahrain. The usual vehicles are an SRL or WLL, or a free-zone company. A visit is sometimes required, particularly for identification or banking. No local director is required for a standard filing. Formation typically takes two to six weeks once the licence path is settled.

We then advise on a Bahraini business bank account and on local acquiring, including Benefit. Stripe is not available as a merchant account on a Bahraini company. Banks often require a visit. Approvals are decided by the providers. If your aim is to live in Bahrain, company formation is not a residence permit — that is a separate immigration file, which we also advise on.

  • Company formation

We form an SRL, a WLL, or a free-zone company. A visit is sometimes required.

  • Manama

An island Gulf state with Manama as the capital, the dinar as the currency, and an established financial-services economy.

  • Payments

Stripe is not available as a merchant account. Local acquiring, including Benefit, is the usual path.

  • Tax setting

Most commercial companies are not subject to a general corporate income tax. Oil companies are taxed separately, and a 15 percent domestic minimum top-up tax may apply to large multinational groups. We confirm the live position before you proceed.

How we work

From briefing to a registered company

  1. Briefing

We review your business, the right entity for this country, costs, and whether a visit is likely.

  2. Company formation

Local counsel, notary where required, and the commercial register. We coordinate the documents through to a registered company.

  3. Banking and payments

After the company exists, we prepare applications for a business account and payment gateways.

  4. After incorporation

Statutory records, a named contact, and introductions to accounting so the company can operate.

After the company exists

Payment gateways

  • Benefit and local acquiring
